ProjectsreligiousHoly Name Catholic Church

before

after

In 1998, Holy Name Catholic Church decided to proceed with a three phase project that would completely renovate the interior of the existing historic church.

The first phase concentrated on the Chapel. This was the original sanctuary and the oldest part of the building. The walls and ceiling were skim coated with plaster and painted in a new color scheme. The wood windows, wainscot and baseboards were all stripped and refinished. The arches were faux painted to match the existing oak pattern and color.

The second phase included the lobby and choir loft. The lobby was approached in the same manner as the Chapel, refinishing the entire space. The design for the choir loft, however, called for an expansion that would eliminate the beautifully carved wood railings and framing of the original structure. The contractor replicated all carvings to allow no evidence of renovation. The reconciliation chapels were also expanded and replicated in the same manner.

The third phase was to complete the interior by restoring the entire sanctuary and alter to its original appearance. the walls and ceiling were skim coated with plaster and painted blue per the new color scheme. The alter included a new design which enhanced the historic features of the church. Two new columns were added, which are replicas of the existing ones, framing the altar. The overall scheme preserved the history and splendor of Holy Name Catholic Church.
